Many of us are very careless with our actions whenever it comes to social-networking sites and we often don't tell ourselves that many people besides our friends can access personal information that we reveal on these websites. What's a good example of a website? Facebook. Facebook is widely used among our students as a communication tool to catch up or to see what's new with our friends. There's something strangely addicting about Facebook that makes you want to check it daily to see what's happening. To summarize facebook, it pretty much enables you to share a variety of things such as your photos, videos, thoughts, interests, hobbies and even communicate via inbox, wall or Facebook chat.

In my opinion, I think Facebook is great because its an easy and amazing tool to keep in touch with friends. However, Facebook does hold its disadvantages and that would be the fact that many other users around the world can access into our information. Besides the reason that some people just long for attention, some people do not want everyone in the whole world to know what they do and what they look like.

On Facebook, there are a few options that can control who can see your info. Believe it or not, you can even limit specific parts of your profile to current Facebook friends you really don't consider your friend anyways (haha). Check out 'Privacy Settings' and you'll most likely only be sharing information to your friends on Facebook IF set properly.

It seems something small and easy to do and it really is but if you think about it you could be saving yourself some trouble from internet predators. Lord knows what nasty plans they have in store by using your information and that is why it is up to you to take it seriously and control what you share.

Better to be safe than sorry heh
